Stop Clyde North Data Centre

This is our community and our future. Learn more about what’s happening and how you can help.

Why we’re making sure residents know

A major first-of-its-kind $1.1 billion data centre is being proposed in Clyde North, yet many local residents are unaware of it. The site at 585 Berwick-Cranbourne Road covers about 53.6 hectares and is close to homes and community facilities. For comparison, that’s the equivalent of 27 MCGs.

The planning application is currently being assessed by the City of Casey, but this application is exempt from the usual public notice requirements and third-party appeal rights under State planning rules. This means that the proposal is not required to go through the normal public notification process and residents don’t have the usual right to appeal the decision.

We believe that residents should know about this major development being proposed in our area, what’s going on, and most importantly, have the opportunity to raise questions and/or concerns while Council is assessing this application.

Environmental Impact

Data centres use large amounts of electricity and water, and can create noise and air pollution. The project could also harm local wildlife and green spaces.

Neighbourhood Disruption

The proposed data centre could bring increased noise and traffic, putting pressure on local roads, water, and electricity infrastructure. It could also lead to higher power and water prices, with few ongoing jobs once construction is finished.

Community Action

Our community deserves a say in decisions that will affect our neighbourhood. Get involved by contacting your local representatives, supporting petitions, and joining our action group.
